During the 2013-14 budget period of Branch #582, a total of 42 community donations have been issued to date. After extensive consideration by our Donations Committee, their recommendations were endorsed by the 582 Executive and subsequently approved by the General Membership. Any specific pre-Christmas (PC) timed requests are included here and a couple other considerations remain under review. This community assistance has been made possible by our branch Bingo and Nevada fund raising, and in selective part by the limited and approved use of our restrictive Poppy campaign funds. The local needs of the following organizations were the designated destinations of these financial contributions:

2017 - 2018

Alice R. Dods (9)

Sheila Gage (2)
Dyke G. Garratt (23) (Chairperson)
Phillip E. Griffin (10)

Charlene Rowe (2)
Vince Wadden (4) (ex-officio member as Branch Pres.)

branch 582 in the community

Some people are aware of the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) and our pledged mission “to serve veterans and their dependents, and to promote Remembrance, and to act in the service of Canada and its communities.”

Therefore, we are advocates for our veterans and the potential needs of their families. We also try in a number of ways, to support the well-being of our own membership.

However, did you realize that RCL Branch #582 and its members mostly live, work, shop, play, socialize, and volunteer...right here in our local community too?
Some persons may have passed by our Cooksville area location and only have a fleeting awareness of its existence, as in "is that the building off Dundas Street near Cawthra Road?" Others may know Br. 582 as a rather inexpensive place to enjoy something to eat and drink, amongst friendly people. For some guests, it's the location choice for enjoyable participation in sports, games & recreation. And yet another visitor might experience Br. 582 in a different way such as a venue to enjoy the entertainment or dancing...or even as a spot to simply relax!
In fulfilling our extended mandate, Branch 582 is becoming increasingly known as an organization that supports other localized Mississauga endeavours – whether in the fields of: health, welfare, military honour, heritage & history, citizenship, education, science, arts& culture, sports & recreation, etc. - all of which mainly pertain to the overall well-being of our community. The following are a few 2014 examples of this growing community involvement:
